Cardiff Open-Top buses celebrate Cardiff City Football Club’s promotion to the Premier League

May 14, 2018

Thousands of fans took to the streets on Sunday 13th May 2018 to celebrate Cardiff City’s promotion to the Premier League.

The open-top bus parade began at Cardiff City Stadium, travelling along Leckwith Road and Cowbridge Road East, and ending up at Cardiff Castle where the team addressed the crowds. Many supporters followed the bus along the entire route, while others waited in anticipation at the castle, enjoying the glorious weather and party atmosphere.

Bath Bus Company provided 2 open-top buses for the event. The first carried the team itself, and was fully wrapped and branded with the Cardiff City FC crest, and the slogan “We are Premier League” #cityasone. The second bus carried the local brand “Cardiff Navigatours”.

The parade itself took just over an hour to reach the castle, where Neil Warnock (CCFC manager) took to the stage and said: “When you look at a day like today you realise just what a big club we are – especially in Wales.”

With Swansea’s relegation being confirmed, Cardiff City is now the only Welsh team in the Premiership.

Tracey Trew, local manager for the Cardiff Tours, said:

“It has been a tremendous day with the whole city coming together to show their support. Myself and the team are incredibly proud to have played a part in this prestigious event.”
